Using HYDRA-II with IND$FILE File Transfer Protocol
             ---------------------------------------------------

IBM supports a file transfer protocol called IND$FILE for PCs using
coax 3270 cards, token ring adapters, and RS-232 connection to protocol
converters including HYDRA II. VM/CMS, MVS/TSO, CICS, AND VSE/SP all
provide support for IND$FILE file transfer protocol.  In VSE/SP,
IND$FILE is part of the IWS package.

Several PC software packages support IND$FILE, including IBM's
FTTERM (v2.0 or higher) and DCA's Crosstalk Mk. 4 (v2.0 or higher).
HYDRA II has custom terminal definitions (TDFs) for use with
IND$FILE. The latest versions of the mono & color TDF's are given
below. These will be included on the next release of the HYDRAUTL tape.
They can be loaded directly into the HYDRA II, or they can be loaded
with the HYDRAUTL program. An earlier version of these TDFs was
supplied on the version 'A' & 'B' HYDRAUTL tapes, but the latest
version should be used for full compatibility.

IBM's FTTERM program requires a setup file (.SET file) with a
terminal emulation of IBM 3270. In the Emulation Parameters screen, the
protocol converter type must be IBM 7171 and the host system must match
the user's mainframe (i.e., VM, CICS, etc.). In the Communications
Parameters screen, XON/XOFF pacing must be set. Version 1.1 or higher
of IND$FILE is required on the mainframe.

DCA's Crosstalk Mk. 4 program requires that flow control be set
for XON/XOFF in the Device Setup screen. In the Terminal Setup screen,
the terminal type must be FTTERM, protocol converter must be 7171,
and keymap must be FTTERM. In the Protocol Setup screen, the INDVersion
field must match the mainframe version (i.e, 1 or 1.1). The HostOS
field must be set to match the mainframe (i.e. VM/CMS, etc.). The
bottom of the Protocol Setup screen includes parameters to be modified.
For the HYDRA II, only 3 fields are required. XClockColumn must be 0,
XClockRow must be 0, and XClockIgnore must be YES. Also, the Crosstalk
file IND$FILE.XTP must be dated 12-03-90 or later. Users should contact
DCA Tech Support if they have an earlier version.
