HYDRAź 3000:
LAN Interface
There are four LAN Interface Modules presently available, offering flexible LAN / Channel combinations which provide DSPU, TCP/IP, TRN, Ethernet, and proprietary HYDRA NET (see Resource Sharing) support.
16/4 TOKEN-RING
The Token-Ring Interface module provides TRN (Token Ring Network) support for DSPU gateway software such as Novell SAA, IBM 3270 Personal Communications, or MicroSoft Windows/NT Server, allowing 3270 sessions from any workstation on the local area network, as well as support for TCP/IP applications. Each Token-Ring Interface Module provides up to 254 simultaneous LU sessions per PU, at both 16 and 4 Mbps data rates as well as early Token Release.
FLEXIBLE TOKEN-RING PUs
Designed into the nature of the Token-Ring Interface Module is the ability to appear as an SNA downstream PU, Internal PU, or upstream PU, based on device point-of-view. Each Module supports up to 8 PUs of any type.
10BASE-T ETHERNET

Provides Ethernet support for TCP/IP applications via the block or byte channel.
BLOCK/BYTE CHANNEL / LAN
Provides all the features of the LAN Interface Module (Token-Ring or Ethernet) and the Channel Interface Module on one module card. Such a direct LAN-to-channel pathway improves power and performance at both the module and whole-unit level. Immediate LAN/channel data traffic is handled by the module internally, bypassing the unit’s backplane data bus, leaving the bus free to handle data flow from other modules.
