HYDRAź
3000:
Resource SharingIn recognition of the need for shared access to valuable enterprise system resources, the HYDRA 3000 has two key resource-sharing features built-in: Data-Routing and HYDRA-Link. Additionally, HYDRA NET mainframe and PC software allow file sharing across the mainframe/PC boundary and among attached PCs.
DATA-ROUTING
Data-Routing provides easy access to HYDRA 3000 attached resources. LAN services, modems, file servers and printers can be pooled and shared among users, with the HYDRA arbitrating ownership. Each resource on the HYDRA 3000 is assigned a unique name, resource lists containing those names are compiled, and those lists are referenced from user-definable Data-Routing menus. To establish a Data-Routing link, users select a resource from one of the Data-Routing menus. Multiple, simultaneous Data-Routing links can be established, and the user can session-switch among them.
HYDRA-LINK

One powerful and unique feature of the HYDRA 3000 is HYDRA-Link. Using HYDRA-Link, multiple HYDRA 3000s can be interconnected, with all units functioning virtually as one. All attached resources are then pooled. Even though users may be geographically widespread, they would have access to any resource attached to a linked HYDRA. Mainframe, LAN or async resources would appear as if locally attached. For maximum performance applications, HYDRAs can be interconnected through multiple HYDRA-Links, with HYDRA balancing the communications load among those Links.
HYDRA NET / MF
HYDRA NET / MF mainframe software, running in VM/CMS or DOS/VSE environments, provides a shared PC file-server located on a common area of mainframe DASD. File-server data can be shared among PCs connected to the HYDRA 3000 via Asynchronous or LAN Interface Modules, and can be shared by mainframe applications as well through a provided API. HYDRA NET / MF has a complete security system, allowing defined access control for all files and directories.
HYDRA NET / PC
HYDRA NET / PC software for PCs, running in DOS or Windows/DOS environments, provides multi-session terminal emulation and access to shared file-servers. It supports LAN and async access to the HYDRA 3000, allowing HYDRA NET / MF clients access to mainframe file-servers. Auto-logon and contact-recovery are available using HYDRA NET / PC’s extensive script language.
