Q: I just upgraded to a new mainframe that doesn't have byte channels can I use this product with my new system?
A: Yes, HYDRA 3000 will operate on both byte and block multiplexor channels with no alterations to the unit configuration.

Q: What is the easiest way to get all of my company's PCs connected to HYDRA 3000 without having to run RS-232 cables to each person's desk.
A: If you have a Local Area Network chances are you already have the basics to use one of our LAN Option modules. Users on the LAN can then get mainframe access through your existing cabling.

Q: I'm concerned that my management will find this product too expensive to implement with the abundance of used equipment that can be purchased as an alternative. How can I justify this?
A: Although you can purchase used communication controllers from various vendors, there is one significant thing you need to factor in.... The software that drives these units must be licensed on an annual basis. Over the course of about 3-5 years time, the money saved would literally pay for the HYDRA 3000.

Q: What is the maximum distance the HYDRA 3000 can operate away from the CPU?
A: Total aggregate length from the CPU - 200 Feet.

Q: What is the maximum distance I can run my RS-232 Cables?
A: Many of our customers run cable lenghts of 150 feet or more. The longer the length the more important the cable charateristics become.

Q: What type of output connector is used by HYDRA 3000
A: We use an industry standard MALE DE-9 (also called DB-9) connectors

Q: Will HYDRA 3000 support an auxiliary printer that is connected to a PC or Terminal?
A: Yes, there are several third party software packages, in addition to HYDRANET/PC which will allow this.

Q: What types of file transfer methods does HYDRA 3000 support?
A: HYDRA 3000 can use IND$FILE, HYDRANET/MF (ACP), and new "Yale Series One Transparency" option soon to be released in microcode version 2.0

Q: How many passwords can HYDRA 3000 manage?
A: Approximately 3,000

Q: My company is getting more involved in TCP/IP, Intranets, and the Internet. Can this product do TCP/IP?
A: Yes, both our Ethernet and Token-Ring interface modules allow you to provide ASCII Telnet or TN3270 access to mainframe applications. Installation and setup is extremely easy.
