HYDRA® 3000: Overview
As enterprise system networks have increasingly been woven into the fabric of business, growing in size and diversity, so has grown the absolute necessity for fast, flexible and reliable interconnectivity. An ideal answer to this need is the HYDRA 3000 system, exclusively developed and manufactured by HYDRA SYSTEMS.
HYDRA 3000, through a unique marriage of hardware and software, interconnects and emulates many of the protocols demanded and supported by an ever-expanding enterprise network. Current versions provide asynchronous and LAN connectivity for 3270 (terminal and printer) sessions and mainframe-based PC file servers, as well as TCP/IP, RJE, PNET, BSC, SDLC, TRN, Ethernet, and multi-channel communications, all in a single unit.
HYDRA 3000 CONTROLLER
The HYDRA 3000 advanced technology communications control unit, innovative in its modular design, offers a variety of interface modules to accommodate flexible configurations and future expansion. The HYDRA 3000 can simultaneously integrate local and remote SNA, non-SNA, LAN, and BSC/SDLC activity. High performance is achieved through a direct, IBM channel-attached, 32-bit multi-processor design. Additional performance features are data compression, redundant data suppression, and up to 625 Kbps async, 460 Kbps bisync, and 2.05 Mbps sdlc data rates. No FEP or NCP is required. Unit configuration can be performed from the IBM channel, async ports, or the LAN. Additionally, two isolated control ports allow in-field access for software upgrades and diagnostics.
MODULAR ARCHITECTURE
The HYDRA 3000 is currently available in three chassis sizes accommodating from 2 to 18 interface modules. Interface modules are linked physically through a 32-bit back-plane and logically through a Master Processor Module. All interface modules can be easily swapped for upgrading or servicing. This modular approach allows flexibility in configuration and expansion. Additional interface modules can easily be added to the existing system.
WARRANTY AND SUPPORT SERVICE
HYDRA products are sold with a 90-day manufacturer’s limited warranty. Post-warranty support agreements are available from HYDRA SYSTEMS INC.
