HYDRAź 3000: QICC Interface
The QICC (pronounced "quick") Interface Module provides ultra-high speed serial data transfer rates (ranging from 460 thousand to 2.05 million bits per second) for BSC, SDLC, TTY, and asynchronous data communications.
Enhanced modem support allows flexible hardware handshaking. Configurable modem setup sequences allow HYDRA 3000 to pre-initialize modems prior to use, thereby restoring modem configurations in the event of power loss or modem RAM corruption.
BSC (Binary Synchronous)
In BSC mode the QICC Interface Module provides RJE support at speeds up to 460 Kbps, over twice as fast as previous BSC controllers.
SDLC (Synchronous Data Link Control)
For SDLC communications, the HYDRA 3000 has the dual modality of providing the benefits of "local" attachment to the host while continuing to communicate with the attached device as remote.
ASYNCHRONOUS
In asynchronous mode the QICC Interface Module provides 3270 emulation for ASCII devices at speeds up to 625 Kbps, and supports virtually every popular ASCII terminal on the market. The QICC Interface retains all the popular features of the Asynchronous Interface Module.
Although not necessary for BSC and SDLC, port security for asynchronous communications is achieved through multilevel password, callback, audit trail and positive logoff security systems (See Dial-in Security.)
HYDRA-LINK
This powerful and unique feature of the HYDRA 3000, where HYDRAs interconnected over distances function virtually as one, is further enhanced using the QICC Interface Module, with its data-link speed 5 times that of the Asynchronous Interface Module.
